What cookies we use

SmartST uses essential authentication and session cookies, which are set by Supabase authentication to keep you signed in as you move around the app. With your consent, we may also set non-essential cookies for the purposes below. We do not use advertising cookies, and we never set a non-essential cookie before you have accepted it.

Why essential cookies do not need consent

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for do not require your consent. Our authentication cookies fall into this category: they exist only to sign you in and keep you signed in. If you block them, sign-in will not work. The small record of your cookie choice is itself strictly necessary — it exists only to honour your decision — so it is also exempt.

Non-essential cookies (consent required)

These are set for SmartST's benefit rather than to deliver something you asked for, so under PECR we set them only after you accept them. You can reject them just as easily, and change your mind at any time.

• Analytics. To understand how the site is used so we can improve it. We use PostHog, which holds the data in the EU, and its cookies are set only if you accept. If you reject, PostHog still counts the visit — but it stores nothing on your device, and it never receives your name, your email address or any account ID, so the count can never be traced back to you.
• Referral attribution. To remember how you first reached SmartST, so we can credit the referral.

Your current choice

When you first visit, a bar offers you a clear choice — accepting and rejecting are equally easy — and we remember it. You can review or change it here at any time; withdrawing consent is as simple as granting it.

Managing cookies in your browser

You can also manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Because our authentication cookies are essential for signing in, blocking or clearing them may sign you out of SmartST.
