How Radiology selection works
Clinical Radiology (ST1) ranks you twice. The MSRA score is used to rank candidates, deciding who will be asked to upload portfolio evidence and invited to interview. The MSRA is then discarded, with the final rank being determined by your portfolio and interview. Although you submit a self-assessed portfolio score when you apply, it is not used until the interview stage when the assessor verifies your score and can revise the score up or down.
Provisional — 2026/27 dates are based on last cycle's pattern. NHS England publishes confirmed dates around October 2026.

Apply4,011(100%)
You make a single application to Clinical Radiology. You can state a preference for the Interventional Radiology (IR) sub-specialty pathway from ST1 and preference IR posts alongside Clinical Radiology-only posts — you can still switch between IR and Clinical Radiology later in training. If you also apply to Nuclear Medicine, a single interview serves both your Clinical Radiology and Nuclear Medicine applications — you attend just one.

Portfolio Self Score Submission
You self-assess your portfolio inside the Oriel application — pick the category A–E that best fits your single strongest piece of evidence in each of the 5 domains. There is no separate submission window or deadline; declare E in every domain and you do not sit the MSRA. The evidence behind each category is uploaded later (if your MSRA rank is high enough) and verified at interview.

Ranking
Your MSRA rank alone sets both who is asked to upload portfolio evidence (~top 850) and who is invited to interview (top 700) — you must clear a gate of above 201 on each component. The MSRA counts only here, then is discarded.
